DOE: $15.00 - 17.64The Endoscopy Technician works under the
direction of aRegistered Nurse and/or Physician andperforms various
duties including technical support for diagnostic andtherapeutic
procedures,specimencollection, cleaning and maintenance of
equipment, assisting with patienttransport, aswell as other tasks
asneeded.Essential Job Functions---Supports andmodels behaviors
consistent with Billings Clinic's mission, vision, values,code of
business conduct and service expectations. Meets all
mandatoryorganizational and departmental requirements. Maintains
competency in allorganizational, departmental and outside agency
standards as it relates to theenvironment, employee, patient safety
or job performance.---Assists the RN andphysician with performing
procedures and providing patient care. Proceduresinclude, but are
not limited to EGD, colonoscopy, polypectomy, biopsies,
PEGplacement, EUS, and ERCP;---Have workingknowledge of scopes,
maintenance, and care;---Handles andlabels specimens correctly and
according to organizational and departmentalpolicies;---Assists
intransport of patients throughout hospital;---Prepares
room,anticipates and verifies all equipment needs prior to
procedure---Maintainsaseptic technique and universal
precautions---Cleans andproperly reprocesses endoscopes according
to infection control and manufacturerguidelines---Must be able
towork in a fast-paced environment---Must be able tostand for long
periods of time---Performs allother duties as assigned or as needed
to meet the needs of thedepartment/organization.Knowledge, Skills
andAbilities ---Performs and assists the RN and physician
withperforming endoscopic procedures---Operates complexEndoscopy
equipment including, but not limited to safe handling and care
ofendoscopes, maintenance of GI image capture software and OER-Pro
endoscopereprocessor.---Performs at anexpert clinical level and
assists the physician in the performance of adultendoscopic
procedures; including both diagnostic and
interventional.---Implements safe,competence and efficient
procedure care to Endoscopy patients within policies,procedures and
standards of care across a variety of populations and complexityof
situations.---Duties for thisposition include but are not limited
to assisting the physician in endoscopicprocedures including, but
not limited to EGD, colonoscopy, Peg tube placement,foreign body
removal, ERCP, and EUS. Intra procedure patient care
withinEndoscopy scope of practice. High-level disinfection of all
Endoscopes perregulatory guidelines.---Foreseespotential problems,
adapts priorities and plans independently with and withoutmedical
direction in response to general information/data indicative
ofpotential urgent or emergent life-threatening risks, initiates
action to reduceor correct the risk.---Incorporatecultural
diversity and age appropriate care into all aspects of patient
careand communications.---Become CPRcertified within 6 months of
hire date.---Utilize timemanagement concepts or maximize time
effectively.---Communicateclearly and effectively both verbally and
in writing.---Utilize criticalthinking skills.---Respond calmlyand
professionally in difficult situations and when dealing with
difficultpatients and/or family members.---Possibility ofexposure
to ionizing radiation.---Moderate toheavy lifting of patients,
equipment and supplies.---Needle and sharpinstrument
usage.---Professionalconduct when dealing with co-workers,
patients, and visitors. Resourcefulnessin dealing with simple to
moderate complexity requires ability to prioritizeduties with
assistance of nursing personnel.---Practices withinthe scope and
level of certification/licensure.---Risk of urgentor emergent
life-threatening events needing appropriate action to reduce
therisk.Minimum QualificationsEducation---High school diploma or
equivalentExperience---1 to 3 years of Endoscopy or
relatedexperience preferredCertifications and Licenses---CNA, PCT,
LPN, LVN, or surgical technicianpreferred---BLS Certification
Required---Must obtain an Associate Program Certificateof
Completion through the Society of Gastrointestinal Nurses and
