Job Description:

As the Executive Managing Director & Head of Capital Markets & Investments, you will lead the Capital Markets & Investments organization which includes the sales, investments, sponsor success, and portfolio investment management teams. This is an executive level revenue-generating leadership position with responsibility for winning new and repeat business across all commercial real estate ("CRE") asset classes with institutional quality CRE sponsors and overseeing the sponsor success and the associated investments.
You will report to the President of the Marketplace and work with the board of directors, preparing business plans and setting OKRs, and reporting on results. You will have budget authority and collaborate with the CFO to create and manage a budget. This position is based in or near a major market in the U.S and reports directly to our President, Marketplace Business.
Drawing upon your experience working with enterprise sponsors, your knowledge of CRE capital markets and investments, and your ability to succeed, you will lead your teams to build a large pipeline of opportunities from new and current enterprise sponsors, lead your investments leaders to accelerate the throughput and quality outcomes of the screening process with sponsors, and ensure overall sponsor success throughout their experience with our platform. CrowdStreet is a high-volume, high-quality online investment marketplace and you will run the department leading its hyper-growth in the years ahead.
The Success You'll Build: Primary Responsibilities and Influence


  • Grow revenue by accepting ownership of the bookings number and achieving goals. Develop the people, process, and tech necessary to exceed revenue goals.
  • Lead, manage, motivate, and grow the sales, investments, and portfolio management teams. Grow the teams and provide the coaching and accountability required to lead the new hires to rapid and sustained success.
  • Prepare business plans, set OKRs, and prepare financial sales goals throughout the funnel. Report up and out on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to track your progress against goals.
  • Ensure best practices on a national level for sales, investments and customer/sponsor success.
  • Use data as your strategic advantage, including proprietary internal data and 3rd party external data to refine our sales, investments and portfolio team performance.
  • Acquire enterprise-level CRE owners, operators, and developers. Educate and advise enterprise sponsors about the benefits of online syndication as a source of equity financing for property development, acquisition, and recapitalization.
  • Build the investments team, creating a deep bench of professionals able to use the proprietary CrowdStreet system to analyze, screen, and position a growing and steady flow of sponsor deals. By always managing the sales pipeline, you will ensure that the team stays on track to exceed revenue goals, while also maintaining our high-quality deal flow that is aligned with our Investment Committee Thesis.
  • Develop repeat, programmatic relationship management processes and people to support our existing sponsors. Expand share of wallet and LTV with these preferred sponsors, and establish CrowdStreet as their preferred capital partner.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to the CrowdStreet team about financial products, solutions, services, and support required to grow our customer base.
  • Create partnerships in the company. Partner with the Marketing, Investor Relations, Marketplace Operations, Product and People organizations to integrate sales, investments and portfolio management to use the wisdom of the company and lead cross-departmental projects to support sales.
  • Be data-driven. Lead Sales Operations to systematically use data analytics to identify and refine our data-driven sales and investments process.
  • New business development is necessary to your success, but so is repeat business from our 125+ existing sponsors. Once a sponsor partners with CrowdStreet once, we want to focus on developing a repeatable, predictable capital relationship with them.

    The experience that will help you succeed:

    • 15+ years of private equity real estate, CRE investment sales, or capital markets investment banking experience with experience growing revenue and building relationships with sponsors.
    • 10+ years experience running sales/business development/customer success teams that exceed goals and incorporate leadership, management, team building, goal setting, and budgeting.
    • Proven ability to recruit, hire, train, teach, motivate, and manage teams.
    • Verifiable track record of transaction activity proving your ability to consistently meet or exceed personal, team, and company revenue goals.
    • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field. MBA with an emphasis in real estate is preferred, but not required.
    • Willingness and ability to obtain SIE, Series 79, and 24 licenses within 90 days (or current, active equivalent FINRA licenses) with the ability to complete others as needed, such as Series 63.
